Public Consultation: Your views on traffic management options for Britannia Road and Vincent Road

Local people have longstanding concerns about anti-social driving behaviour and anti-social congregation in the area. Norfolk County Council, Norwich City Council and the police are working together to address these concerns.

Norfolk County Council is the highway authority for Norfolk and is responsible for maintenance and improvement of the public highway.

Norwich City Council is responsible for the vehicle-related Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) which is in place in the area. It also owns a verge adjacent to Britannia Road outside Norwich Prison and the car park located off Britannia Road. It works in partnership with the Mousehold Heath Conservators to manage and protect the Heath. The car park is on the Heath. The land owned by the City Council is not public highway and may be affected by these proposals.

Norfolk Constabulary are responsible for public safety, emergency response and crime prevention and investigation.

As part of a feasibility study Norfolk County Council has produced some ideas for changes to the public highway to help discourage anti-social driving behaviour and congregation.

There are 7 options to view. It may be that one of these is taken forward for delivery or it may be that feedback results in a different combination of interventions being delivered. Consultation feedback will help shape a final design.

This is a public consultation meaning that anyone is able to comment. It also includes other stakeholders, including environmental organisations, due to the status of adjacent land.
