Your views on the Enforcement of Traffic Offences (2024)
Overview
We have identified locations across Norfolk where drivers are ignoring existing restrictions and that this is having an impact on safety, wellbeing, health and/or congestion. We plan to enforce these locations using new cameras to detect and issue penalties to drivers that continue to ignore these restrictions.
Norfolk County Council alongside the Police has the power to enforce some moving traffic offences. The offences are things like banned turns, using parts of the road restricted to only certain vehicles and entering areas restricted to pedestrians and cyclists only.
The government has recognised the benefits of moving traffic offences being part of local network management duties but has issued guidance to Local Authorities on how they must go about introducing new locations. One element of this guidance is a requirement to seek the feedback on proposed new locations.
