Your views on the Enforcement of Traffic Offences (2024)

Closed 7 Nov 2024

Opened 26 Sep 2024

Overview

Norfolk County Council is asking for feedback on proposals to introduce enforcement cameras at eight locations across the county. The proposals will improve  road safety, air quality and localised congestion in key areas.

The locations proposed already have restrictions in place, however through collaboration with Norfolk Police, bus operators and local communities, it has been identified that drivers are ignoring these existing restrictions which is having an impact on the safety and wellbeing of people in Norfolk as well as adding congestion to the county’s roads.

Why we are consulting

Norfolk County Council would like to hear the views of residents, transport providers, businesses and other organisations – particularly those based near the proposed sites in King's Lynn, Cromer and Norwich on what if any local issues there might be following the introduction of enforcement at the proposed locations.

The government has recognised the benefits of moving traffic offences being part of local network management duties but has issued guidance to Local Authorities on how they must go about introducing new locations. One element of this guidance is a requirement to seek feedback on proposed new locations.

The consultation closes on 7 November. Please note that if we receive any consultation responses after this date, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to take them into account.

If you need a copy of this consultation document in a different format please email haveyoursay@norfolk.gov.uk, call 0344 800 8020 or Text Relay on 18001 0344 800 8020 (textphone) and we will do our best to help.
