Support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities
Overview
We have produced some draft guidance about the support we expect to be available for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) with their education and training. The draft guidance is for schools, pre-schools, nurseries, colleges, sixth-forms and other providers of education and training.
We want to provide clarity for children and young people with SEND, and their parents and carers, about the support they can expect with their education and training. We hope that this will build confidence and strengthen their relationships with both Norfolk County Council and providers of education and training.
The document also aims to create a shared understanding between schools, parents and carers, and Norfolk County Council about when children and young people should be assessed for and given an Education, Health and Care Plan.
Why your views matter
We particularly want to hear the views of parents and carers of, and people who work with, children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilites. We will consider your feedback and use it as appropriate to make improvements before we publish the final version of the guidance.
