School Term Dates for the School Year 2019/20

Closed 15 Dec 2017

Opened 23 Nov 2017

Overview

Norfolk County Council remains responsible for setting term and holiday dates for Community and Voluntary Controlled Schools, while Governing Bodies of Foundation, Voluntary Aided School and Academies are resonsible for setting their own term dates.  In practice most of the schools in Norfolk adopt a single calendar.

The Regional Term Dates Group, which met earlier this term, continues to share the view that a coordinated approach to minimise impact on families and transport is preferable, wishing to continue, wherever possible, by aligning term dates with their neighbouring regions.  The proposed models from the group are attached.

Our neighbouring authorities Suffolk, Cambridge and Lincolnshire have confirmed they  want to align their calendars with their neighbours and are now consulting on the Eastern Region Model with their schools.

The calendar provides 190 teaching days (white) when schools must be open to pupils and on which home to school transport will be provided.
