School term dates for the school year 2027-28
Overview
Local authorities are responsible for determining school term dates for community and voluntary controlled schools, while Foundation, Trust, Voluntary Aided Schools, and Academies set their own calendars.
In Norfolk, the majority of schools typically follow a unified schedule. Schools are required to be open to students for 190 days each academic year, with teachers attending for 195 days. School transport services are available on student attendance days.
To promote consistency for families and transport providers, Norfolk County Council collaborates with neighbouring local authorities to propose an academic calendar, known as the Eastern Region Model Calendar.
Norfolk County Council is consulting on the proposed term and holiday dates for 2027-2028.
The proposed Calendar for term dates 2027/28 is shown below
This consultation will close on 14 November 2025. The results of the consultation will be published on Norfolk County Council's Website in Spring 2026.
