School Organisation in Hethersett

Part 1: Proposal to change the age range of Hethersett Woodside Infant and Nursery School to admit pupils from 2 up to the age of 11, and relocate the school to a new site within the strategic housing development, north of Hethersett.

Notice is given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Norfolk County Council, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DL, intends to make a prescribed alteration to change the age range of Hethersett Woodside Infant & Nursery School, Firs Road, Hethersett, Norwich, NR9 3EQ from 3 – 7 to 2 - 11 from 1 September 2019, and relocate the school to a new site within the strategic housing development, north of Hethersett.

The current capacity of the school is 240 and the proposed capacity will be 420. The current admission number for the school is 60 and the proposed admission number will be 60.

Pupils currently attending Hethersett Woodside Infant and Nursery School will automatically have a place at the new Hethersett Woodside Primary School proposed to open on 1 September 2019 on the new site within the new housing development to the north of Hethersett. 

Part 2 : Proposal to change the age range of Hethersett Church of England Voluntary Controlled Junior School, to admit pupils from the age of two.

Notice is given in accordance with section 19(3) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Governing Body, Hethersett CE VC Junior School, 22 Queens Road, Hethersett, Norwich, NR9 3DB, intends to make a prescribed alteration to change the age range of the school from 7 – 11 to 2 – 11 from 1 September 2019.

The current capacity of the school is 240 and the proposed capacity will be 420. The current admission number for the school is 60 and the proposed admission number will be 60.

The Governing Body of the school will implement this proposal.

Both proposals could reduce the volume of traffic in Hethersett as parents with more than one child would need only to drop their children off at one site instead of two.

All statutory consultation requirements relating to both proposals have been complied with.
