The Statement of Community Involvement explains how Norfolk County Council intends to involve the community in the preparation of Minerals and Waste planning policy documents and the consideration of planning applications.

As more than five years had passed since the adoption of a Statement of Community Involvement in September 2012, a full review of the document has taken place, which included a six week public consultation period on a new draft Statement of Community Involvement during July and August 2018.

On 10 December 2018 Norfolk County Council formally adopted the current Statement of Community Involvement. There are a number of differences between the current Statement of Community Involvement (2018) and the previous Statement of Community Involvement (2012).

Overview

The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out the standards to be achieved by Norfolk County Council in involving the community in:

  • The preparation and review of Norfolk’s minerals and waste planning policy documents
  • Consultations on planning applications decided by the County Council (these are planning applications on minerals and waste and the County Council’s own development e.g. relating to schools, libraries, fire stations and non-trunk roads, where planning permission is required).

Norfolk County Council adopted the current Statement of Community Involvement in September 2012. As more than five years have passed since the adoption of the SCI we are undertaking a full review of the document to ensure it remains up to date.
